Setlhare Farm · City of Tshwane · Est. 2023
A young female-led farm producing pork, vegetables, and processed goods in Arcadia, Pretoria, Gauteng.
Setlhare Farm — trading as Khumalo Agri Holdings (Pty) Ltd — is a young agricultural enterprise established in 2023 on Portion 21 of Farm Portion 8 in the Arcadia, Pretoria municipality, City of Tshwane. Founded and managed by Zanele Khumalo, the farm operates across three integrated departments: a commercial piggery, vegetable production, and an emerging agro-processing division.
The farm covers 21.5 hectares and is supported by the Department of Rural Development through the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (Government Agricultural Grant), which has provided capital to establish infrastructure and early production capacity. Today, Setlhare Farm employs four permanent workers with a clear commitment to grow that number to 30 as the operation scales.
At its core, Setlhare Farm is a statement about what is possible. Agriculture is not a fallback — it is a foundation. This farm is being built with discipline, community partnerships, and a long-term view: from producing quality pork and fresh vegetables for local markets today, to processing value-added products for national and global distribution tomorrow.
01 — Piggery
The piggery is the commercial anchor of Setlhare Farm. Working with farrowing sows sourced through AgriSupply Co. and slaughtering through Valley Abattoir in Nigel, the farm produces quality-graded pork for direct market sale. The piggery is mentored by Mr. Steyn and runs with established procedures for housing, monitoring, and quality control.

02 — Vegetables
Setlhare Farm supplies fresh vegetables to established retail and wholesale buyers in Gauteng. The vegetable operation builds supply-chain relationships that guarantee consistent off-take and fair pricing — a model that makes small-scale production commercially viable.
03 — Agro-Processing
Getting our processed vegetables onto the shelves of food chain shops — and canned pickled beet onto the global market.
Agriculture is not just viable — it is transformative.
"As a young female-led enterprise, Setlhare Farm is proof that agriculture is not just viable but transformative for South Africa's youth."
