Our Story

Zanele Khumalo started Setlhare Farm with a vision: to transform underutilised Pretoria farmland into a thriving agricultural enterprise that feeds communities and creates jobs. Operating from Farm Portion 8 in Arcadia, Pretoria's City of Tshwane, the farm spans 21.5 hectares and runs three integrated departments — piggery, vegetable production, and agro-processing.

The farm has infrastructure for piggery production, feed storage, sheep rearing, and kraal facilities. A functional borehole supplies water for livestock, vegetable irrigation, and daily operations. Four workers manage day-to-day farm activities, with plans to scale to 30 employees within three years.

Setlhare Farm practises integrated farming — pig waste enriches vegetable soil, crop residue supplements feed, and agro-processing adds value to surplus harvest. Every department strengthens the others.

Three departments. One circular system.

Piggery → Vegetable → Agro-Processing → Community

"To scale to 100 sow units, expand vegetable production to 10 hectares, establish a food-safe agro-processing facility, and build an agricultural training centre — creating 30 jobs within three years."
